Recent research shows that psychological disorders such as depression are on the increase amongst seafarers with over 25% stating that they have experienced depression at some point.
Studies show that life at sea can make seafarers more vulnerable to depression than shore based personnel, and being on board away from family and friends for long periods of time can make these feelings worse.
The aim of this course is to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of depression, and to signpost some of the support options available to seafarers who may be suffering from depression.
